In a previous article, I talked about Pot Odds. It’s a great tool, but not the full picture. This is what is called Implied Odds.
Basically, implied odds is your pot odds plus what you expect to make from further betting rounds remaining if you hit one of your remaining outs. Implied odds can make what was unprofitable call via pot odds, profitable. Let’s take the hand example that was an unprofitable call with just pod odds:

But this time, your opponent bets $10 into a $80 pot, giving you 1/9 pot odds. Almost enough to call, but not quite… remember to call this bet we need better than 1/10 pot odds. But, let’s say you’ve put your opponent on a set of Kings or Queens and this player is also very loose and aggressive, so if you make your hand, you believe that you can probably get at least another $10 bet. So then on the river it’s 1/11 pot odds… which is implied on the turn. And that is implied odds. Predicting a future betting round and applying that to your calculations.
