I just finished 58 out of 1031 in a $10 + $2 buy in tournament. I ended up winning $26.81 of the 10k prize pool. This was on Full Tilt.
Not bad, better than last tournament. Last tournament I finished 113 out of 957 (barely in the money). So, perhaps I’m getting better.
Anyway… made some mistakes, but mostly I was really aggressive in general and it paid off. Now if I can just keep from making any mistakes, I’d be able to make the final table. So, I think it’s time to hit the forums again and brush up on some skills… mostly playing middle pocket pairs. Rough. I think I was about 50% win ratio this tournament when I got the middle pocket pairs.
Also, still working on trying to maximize my profit when I have the nuts. Getting better though. Only once did I get gypped when I had AQs in the BB and everyone folded to me. Much sadness was had on my part. At that point though I was probably about 8th or so in a field of about 500 or so.
Here’s the hand I lost on… not a bad beat… just something I should’ve folded.
Blinds are at 600/1200 and 150 ante
I’m in the SB with 13,664
I’m holding: ![]()

Three people fold. MP2 raises 3,600. Three more fold. I call. The BB calls.

Here’s where I make my mistake… I check. It’s checked all the way around.
Turn: ![]()
I have little chance of making my hand, but I’m think I can steal the pot here. I bet out 3,000. BB raises me 45,066 all-in. MP2 folds. And then I make mistake number 2… thinking he’s bluffing, I call with my remaining 6,914.
What the hell was I thinking?!?!?
BB shows: ![]()

So basically… I called a re-raise when I was drawing dead. Brilliant. If I was going to bluff at the pot, I should have bluffed at the flop… not the turn. And then I shouldn’t have ever EVER called an all-in re-raise. Guess you start getting stupid after 3 1/2 hours of play. Stupid.
