I made the move from FullTilt to Bodog poker site a few days ago. All things to consider, I’m liking the play on Bodog much much better. It’s a lot looser for one. The difference between the VP$IP from FTP is often +15 - 20%! I’ve played in full ring games with VP$IPs as high at 65%! That’s just insane!
Also, a lot more people will go down to the river. Just in the two days I’ve been playing, I’ve seen 3 hands where someone passively called down big bets with A high (2 of which were nice money makers for me).
The thing I’m not so hot on is that I like the FTP interface much better. The interface on bodog is small and only allows you to have 3 game windows open at a time (a real slowdown for someone who collects player information in pokertracker). The fact that Bodog doesn’t make it easy to import these hand histories as FTP does, but requires DogWatch is not lost on me. Twice now, Dogwatch has crashed and had to be restarted, only it doesn’t have the ability to recognized open tables unless it is started BEFORE Bodog… very annoying when I’m trying to keep an accurate record of my bankroll… so I have to leave the table, restart Bodog and then start a new session after loading DogWatch again… very annoying.
Also, one of the features that loved about FTP is the ability to look at the last 50 hands, even if you’re not playing at the table. Bodog has the ability to look at previous hands ONLY if you are playing at the table, but the way it represents this almost purely textual. Not ideal when don’t have a lot of time to make a decision when you’re sitting at table.
The third party software options are rather limited for Bodog as well, which makes sense as it certainly isn’t as popular. PokerAce HUD is supported, but it only supports the small version of the table, instead of the wide screen version that I prefer.
Anyway. That being said. I like playing at Bodog so far. I’m working with bankroll management and I’m using the experience I’ve gotten from FTP to plug the leaks in my game. Jury is still out on whether this actually is working, but we’ll see.
