Today I started reading Harrington on Hold ‘em Vol. III. I’ve mentioned the other two volumes here a lot (there’s a good reason I mention it so much by the way). Volume III is one big freakin’ quiz of what you’ve supposedly learned in Vol. I and II.
With that in mind, I’ve decided to start doing a series of quizzes about poker hands (a couple or more every month)… I’ll tell you as much information as you need to make a decision. When available, I’ll take actually hands from my play. Probably on more than one occasion there will be more than one right answer (or I’ll be wondering what the answer is myself). I’ll leave that for you to decide… this is simply an exercise to get us thinking about hands, the selection of and how to play them.
So, without further ado, on to our first quiz. For this first quiz, I’ve taken this from Harrington on Hold’em vol. III.
You are in position 4. Chair position and chip stack size of the table:
1. $2,720
2. $2,560
3. $2,250
4. $2,560 (YOU)
5. $2,380
6. $2,420
7. $2,600 (BUTTON)
8. $2,600 (SB)
9. $2,380 (BB)
Summary: Large multi-table online tournament. A few hands have been played. So far, you’ve observed that players 1 & 2 seem to be loose, while player 7 and 9 appear to be tight.
Your hand: ![]()
![]()
Action to you: Players 1, 2 and 3 all fold.
