So, I know I haven’t been posting regularly. I apologize, but I’ve been taking a little sabbatical from poker after my disastrous performance at the last poker tournament I entered.
Last night though, I went back to weekly tournament at Boomtown. Basically, I just wanted to not bust out early so I could redeem myself and prove (mainly to myself) that I’m not a complete donk. Well… I did better than that. I made the money again and we decided to chop.
It was a touch and go game though… I had to do some real tricky maneuvering to get to the final table. The best hand I had for the first hour of play was AJ and at one point, I was down to the felt. I had $600 in chips left and the blinds were $200/$400. I moved all-in from a middle position with A8… everyone folded except, of course, the BB who apologized as he called cause it was only an additional $200. He had K7 and I hit an Ace on the flop to stay alive and begin my comeback.
By the time we were down to 9 players at the final table, I was the chip leader with over 12k in chips.
The final table always gets tight. Everyone can smell the money. It’s usually a good time to start ramping up your aggression, which is exactly what I did. Course, hands were helping… I was having a good mix of strong hands and crap, so I was able to vary my play successfully and win a lot of chips.
Anyway… the point is that the time off was good for me… I was losing patience with the game and now I’m back to my patient, tight-aggressive self.
