Apparently, the new answer is, surprisingly, YES!
About two weeks ago, a huge story broke involving Absolute Poker and apparently confirmation that the winner of a $1000 tournament was being fed the hand information of EVERYONE at the table by a super user account!
I’ve looked at the hand history files myself… and it just makes you sick.
Anyway, if you don’t know about the story, you can read about here and there is a lot more of the detail on 2+2 forums, where most of this broke.
Holy shit! I say… and just a few months ago I was defending online poker. Course, I don’t think that this has happened with every site… it looks like the user, POTTRIPPER, was getting fed information about hands via another user with a superuser account… it also looks like this superuser was one of Absolute’s early employees and a current VP with company… well… that was the latest information when I could stomach reading about it.
But here’s the rub… a lot of us can’t get to casinos and even if we can, it’s not exactly the best place to try to develop your skills in the poker world, as it could get costly. If online poker sites don’t get their shit together, they are going to be out of customers and we’ll be out of places to develop the skills we need to play in live games for real money. It’s a lose-lose.
I hope this gets resolved and quick!
